WHY DO YOU CALL ME LORD?

Why do you call Him Lord? Is He really the Lord of your life or do you just give Him lip service? The Lord keeps telling me that the “Church” in America for the most part just gives Him lip service but truly their heart is far from Him. Where is your heart? Are you just pretending that He is your Lord? In the gospel of Luke 6:46-49, Jesus explains what it really means to be His. “But why do you call Me  ’Lord, Lord’  and do not the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears my sayings and DOES them. I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on THE ROCK. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on THE ROCK. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently: and immediately it FELL. And the ruin of that house was great.”

We are heading into a time in the history of the world, that we have never seen before. America is about to experience traumatic changes. The “Church” in America is getting a wake up call right now…and the Lord is looking for those who not only say they are His but prove it by being obedient to Him. Are you going to be one of those? Or are you going to continue to play Christianity? Folks, this is not a game (it never was). Jesus needs those that are sold out for Him, those that are willing to pay the cost to really follow Him. Cost? You mean there is a cost to follow Jesus? Yes, it will cost you everything. ” I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” Galatians 2:20. If you truly belong to Christ, your life is now His. So you see, it’s going to cost you everything to follow Jesus and make Him Lord of your life.

You may be saying wow…I didn’t realize that. I thought Christianity was a feel good, marshmallow life. I didn’t know that their is a price to pay. Nobody ever told me that receiving Jesus Christ as my savior was going to cost me anything, I thought it was a free gift. It is a free gift, and Jesus died at Calvary to give you and I that gift of eternal life with Him. Once you receive Him as your savior, you begin on your walk to “….work out your own salvation with fear and trembling: for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:12-13. You see it is a cooperation between us and God. Once we receive Jesus as our savior we are saved and we are being saved as we work out our own salvation. It is a point in time and a walk that we must now complete in order to be with the Lord in eternity.

After our initial salvation experience, we now must learn to be “willing and obedient” to what the Lord says in His word. If you read the new testament, most of those letters are to believers. They are instructions to us as believers. If the Lord wanted us to stay at the point of salvation only , then there would be no reason for us to have any further instruction as to how we are to live now.  You see now we have to learn to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh. We have to put down our secret sins and live a holy life. He told us in 1Peter 1:13-16 “Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your mind fully upon the grace that is to be  brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written. “Be holy for I am holy”.”

You see, receivng the Lord as your savior is easy…but making Him the Lord of your life takes a great deal of effort and yeilding on your part. You now have to be transformed and become like Jesus. You need to have the mind of Christ,”Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus” Philippians 2:5 and you need to be led of His Spirit, “For as many as are led by the spirit of God, these are sons of God” Romans 8:14. This all takes a conscious effort on your part. You need to pray, fast, read His word and spend time with Him. Finally, you need to listen for His voice and be willing and obedient to do what He tells you. When you seek Him in these ways, then He will truly become  the Lord of your life.  And then you can say ‘LORD, LORD’…and really mean it in your heart.         by   Connie
